The Play Your first day in a new job can be overwhelming at any time. How about when it is in a child care centre, nearly all of your colleagues have called in sick, and you have a hostage situation on your hands? How do you deal with the fraught parents of the children that have been placed in your care? Child care has never looked so chaotic, or funny. A contemporary Brisbane play that shows the challenges, heartache and joy faced by parents and their paid helpers.
The Playwright Elise Greig is one of Queensland's most exciting new writers. Crèche and Burn was a hit at La Boite in 2005 and was followed by a 10 week national tour. Elise was one of the writers for the television pilot 37 Skit Row and also wrote the critically acclaimed Ditto for the Shock of the New Festival. Also one of Australia's leading voice over artists, Elise is a Matilda Award winning actor, having been recognised for her contribution to Queensland theatre on three occasions.
The Director Fiona Kennedy has directed several plays for Villanova Players, including Cosi in 2009 and Indian Ink in 2006. She has also graced our stage as an accomplished actress in many productions, most recently in Live at the Trocadero in 2009 and the title role of Edith Stein in 2008.
