Barry Haworth
After many years as a choral singer Barry took up community theatre as a hobby in 2005. In the almost twenty years since he has performed a range of singing and non-singing roles for a variety of companies around the Brisbane area, going as far north as Redcliffe to perform Major General Stanley in The Pirates of Penzance and Fester in The Addams Family Musical with Redcliffe Musical Theatre in 2012 and 2017 respectively, and as far south as Beenleigh for a mix of roles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame musical with Beenleigh Musical Theatre earlier this year.
As well as roles in musical theatre Barry has performed non signing roles including Mr Bennet in Pride and Prejudice (Brisbane Arts Theatre, 2014), Ebenezer Scrooge and Marley’s Ghost in two different versions of A Christmas Carol with Nash Theatre and Brisbane Arts Theatre respectively, Detective novelist Andrew Wyke in the mystery parody play Sleuth (Act 1 Theatre, 2023) and the Shakespearean roles of Prospero (The Tempest, Nash Theatre 2016) and Malvolio (Twelfth Night, St Lukes Theatre 2019. Nicholas Sayers
Nicholas started down the acting path playing the boisterous Pip in 7 Little Australians bringing to life his love of the stage. He continued with VP’s in their hilarious Tex-Mex rendition of Shakespear’s classic Much-Ado About Nothing in mid 2017 where played the bumbling ‘Verges’. The show was very well received and although he loved the hilarity, there was something missing the he couldn’t quite put to words.
Late 2018 gave him a small ensemble role during VP’s summer musical High Society which, although allowed him to demonstrate his singing ability, again left him feeling unfulfilled as an actor.
In August of 2019 Nicholas was cast in Picnic At Hanging Rock as ‘The Honorable Michael FitzHubert’ Nick really came into his own with this performance imbuing the stage with the pompous attitude of a British nobleman but mixing it with mysterious and yet still endearing qualities of Michael.
Nick still wanted a chance to show that he could grab and hold the attention of audiences and hold it, a chance he would be given by Bruce Par who directed VP’s Switzerland in mid 2020. Nicholas was entrusted with the role of ‘Edward Ridgway’ a meek and lowly publishers assistant with a dark secret. COVID put a hold on this production but thankfully it only served as a positive allowing a more polished performance to shine.
To late 2021, Nick performed again in a Villanova Players Musical Summer Rain in the role of Clarrie Nugent. A role which let his voice “sing” for itself (even if a certain microphone wasn’t working).
After a short hiatus filled with personal growth and development, plus the minor dramatic outburst here and there, Nick is very excited to see what the future holds.

He has been fortunate to be involved in theatre wherever he has lived; in roles from Perchik in “Fiddler” at 18, lead roles in musicals such as “Guys and Dolls” and the title role in Shakespeare’s “King Leah”.
